Thank you for the latest video post. I really enjoyed it and it helps me allow the material to sink in deeper.
Thank you Sharon for this overview. Much appreciated. I’ve taken one course/weekend with you a few years back when Chip Chase hosted you in Boulder, CO. I am very touched by your teaching in my mind and heart. I thought I’d share just a few thoughts which you may already be well aware of in one way or another. One thought is Claude Larre and Elisabeth Rochet’s discussion of “The Heart” in Ling Shu chapter 8 where they explore the meaning of “Heaven in me is Virtue, Earth in me is Breaths” stating that “Virtue flows, the Breaths spread everywhere, that is what makes life. When Virtue flows down from above, de liu, and the qi spreads, bo, everywhere, that is life, sheng zhe ye.” “The liu effect, to flow, and through the bo effect, to spread.” Coming together they form this individual being that I am. Second thought, in Zheng Manqing’s “13 Treatises on Taijiquan”, chapter 3, he echoes what you are saying about the “post heavenly” yin/yang symbol with yang below and yin above. He emphasizes the hexagram “After Completion” with “Li” fire below and “K’an” water above discussing the development of ch’i to reach suppleness, sinking the ch’i to the tan t’ien and keep it there with the xin/heart-mind and yi/intention-purpose. “If fire is above and water below you have disharmony expressed in the hexagram “Before Completion”.
Again, thank you for all of your teaching,
Larry Welsh
